Facebook Has Influence On Eating Disorder

Because of Facebook, large number of users of this social network thinks he has problems with excessive weight, shows the study of center for eating disorders in USA.
This research was conducted among 600 Facebook users aged between 16 and 40 years and more than 50 percent of them admitted that, because of photos published on this network (regardless of whether they or they friend posted them), they are dissatisfied with their look – they think that they are fat and it affects their self-esteem.
One member of this center, told reporters how our culture is obsessed with weight, and Facebook can be also blamed for this. Thanks to the Facebook people are now constantly aware of their appearance and look, and many of them think that they have to be thinner – this situation is especially affected by Timeline that allows you to easily compare current images with those taken a few years ago, and comparison of these images can cause depression.
Such thinking forces users to go on radical and dangerous diets and Facebook can be an influential factor in development of serious eating disorders.
Other results of this study showed that 51 percent of users compare their lives with the lives of others on the basis of status and photos posted on Facebook and a third of them feel bad when they compare their profile with profiles of their friends.
It is interesting how Facebook is affecting the way people behave in real life with their friends. 43 percent of them avoid taking pictures if they think they do not look good because they are afraid that these photos will end up on Facebook.
Conclusion of center for eating disorders is that, if Facebook really causes this kind of dissatisfaction, you should think about how to use Facebook, or even to be completely excluded from it.
