What Impact Has The Facebook Relationship Status

More and more people are using Facebook in order to communicate and share photos and thoughts with acquaintances, whether they are in neighborhood or in other country. However, they do not always understand what impact Facebook can have on their relationship. Seemingly small thing like changing relationship status can have a great impact.

What is it all about? There is the option on Facebook where you can specify that you are single, in relationship, married or that your situation is complicated. And, you meet someone new, you are impressed with this person, you just started to go out with this person, you became friend on Facebook so this person can see your account and you can see her account, and, almost as soon as you start to go out, you cheerfully change your relationship status so that everyone knows that you are not single anymore. And, this person sees that, does not like it, and because of that you can lose this person.

What is the problem? Problem is in fact that your page is available to everyone who is your Facebook friend - let’s say it’s about hundred people. And, after you just met someone and started to go out with this person, you have published in front of all these people that you are in relationship (imagine teenage girl who tells this to hers friends and multiply this friends by twenty). This publication can be premature for this person because two or three dates for her are not relationship, and especially it is not something that should be published in front of all. That one foolish gesture could seriously undermine what might otherwise be very nice.

Another case! You are in relationship and this is published on your Facebook account. And then, you became angry on this person, or you want to break up with her, and you change your relationship status so it says that you are single now. It acts as small thing, but this is announcement in front of hundred people – and maybe before you say it to person with whom you want to break up. Definitely a bad idea!

So, slow down when it comes to these things. There are many who prefer to regularly report on Facebook their activities, but do not forget that these data are available to relatively large number of people, so what is still uncertain and private should be kept in privacy.
